As experts in facial structures and how they work, our team of dental professionals are highly experienced and skilled when it comes to delivering aesthetic treatments. At Knights Dental, we offer anti-wrinkle injections and dermal fillers.
Anti-wrinkle injections can be used as part of facial aesthetic treatment to address fine lines and wrinkles caused by facial movement, typically targeting forehead lines, crow's feet, and frown lines.
Fillers are typically used to soften the appearance of scars and support areas where the skin has lost volume as part of the natural ageing process. It is often used to add fullness to the lips, cheeks and jaw.
Before your treatment, your practitioner will discuss your concerns, outline suitable options and explain the process involved. Both anti-wrinkle injections and fillers are administered using a fine needle to precisely target the area of concern, with special attention to facial symmetry and structure.
Your appointment should not take more than around 30 minutes, depending on your specific case.
Anti-wrinkle injections work by temporarily relaxing the facial muscles, causing a smoothing effect on the lines in your face that are caused by movement.
When administered by a qualified practitioner, both dermal fillers and anti-wrinkle injections are considered safe.
Anti-wrinkle injections may be suitable for some patients. However, it is important to have a thorough consultation with your Knights Dental practitioner before any treatment to assess your individual circumstances and confirm whether treatment is appropriate for you.
For example, it is not recommended in the following instances:
If the injection site is infected
If you have previously had an allergic reaction to injectable medicines
If you have a chronic disease such as Myasthenia Gravis or Eaton Lambert syndrome
For people under the age of 18
If you are breastfeeding or pregnant
If you have chronic difficulties breathing
If you have a blood clotting disorder such as haemophilia, or if you are taking anticoagulant medicines
If you have a history of Bell’s Palsy or stroke
Both treatments are delivered using a fine needle or cannula and are generally well tolerated. Temporary swelling may occur following filler treatment and usually settles within a short period of time.
Some may experience mild tenderness at the injection site immediately post-treatment, or a small amount of swelling or bruising.
After treatment, it’s important to let your skin settle. Try not to apply make-up, heavy cleansers or alcohol based products to your skin, and you should not do strenuous exercise for 48 hours. We also recommend:
– If bruising appears, you can apply Arnica cream after 48 hours
– If you experience mild pain after your procedure, take paracetamol
– You should try to frown and lift your eyebrows for up to four hours following your treatment
– Avoid touching and rubbing the injected areas, and don’t have a massage or facials for 48 hours
