What happens in a dental emergency?

There can be lots of reasons for a dental emergency - an accident, sudden and unexplained pain, a broken tooth or teeth, and more. Usually we’re alerted to it as a result of pain and it’s important to address it quickly to make sure you’re comfortable and that the issue can be identified.

If you experience a dental emergency, we want you to contact us any time. If it’s during regular surgery hours we will aim to offer you a same-day appointment as quickly as possible. Simply phone your local clinic as usual and they will support you.

If your emergency is outside regular working hours, you can still contact your regular clinic and select the emergency option. We will then be able to guide you as to the best approach.

What should I do in a dental emergency?
If you experience a dental emergency, contact your local Knights Dental clinic straight away on their regular contact number. If it’s outside regular working hours, select the emergency option when it’s given.
A dental emergency is usually made apparent through severe oral pain, which may be the result of an infection or injury such as severe tooth decay, an accident resulting in a lost tooth, or a dental abscess.

At Knights Dental we will always aim to see you within 24-hours of your phone call. Our priority will be to make you safe and comfortable, and if we cannot resolve the complete issue within that appointment, we will arrange follow up care in a time frame to suit you.
