What a night. The first-ever Welsh Dental Awards brought together the very best of dentistry across Wales, and we are incredibly proud of how Knights Dental was represented.

With 10 practices across South Wales, our goal has always been simple: deliver great, honest dentistry that patients can trust. Evenings like this remind us why that matters.

Knights Dental Finalists: Representing Across the Board

It was a genuine honour to see so many of our people and practices recognised as finalists. The breadth of nominations reflects what we’ve always believed, that exceptional dentistry isn’t built by one person; it’s built by an entire team.

Our finalists on the night were:

  • Paul Jones (Owner) — Practice Principal of the Year
  • Dr. Aled James (Rhoose) — Dentist of the Year
  • Rory Dewhurst (Radyr) — Dentist of the Year
  • Hannah Martin (Radyr) — Practice Manager of the Year
  • Heidi Clay (Rhoose) — Dental Nurse of the Year
  • Rhoose Dental Team — Dental Team of the Year

Rory Dewhurst Named Dentist of the Year

The standout moment of the evening was Rory Dewhurst taking home the Dentist of the Year award, a category recognising excellence in clinical care, patient experience, leadership, innovation, and professional contribution across Wales.

Here’s what Rory had to say:

“Honoured to have been named Dentist of the Year at the inaugural Welsh Dental Awards. This award recognises excellence in clinical care, patient experience, leadership, innovation, and professional contribution within dentistry across Wales — and I’m incredibly proud to receive it.

Over the years, I’ve been fortunate to help patients rebuild confidence through advanced restorative treatments, orthodontics, implant dentistry and full smile rehabilitations. What matters most to me is creating an experience where patients feel genuinely listened to, cared for, and confident throughout their treatment journey.

I’m hugely grateful to every patient who has trusted me with their care, as well as the fantastic teams and colleagues I’ve had the privilege of working alongside. This recognition only motivates me further to continue pushing standards forward and delivering the highest level of care possible.”

Rory’s work spans some of the most complex areas of modern dentistry. From dental implants and Invisalign to full smile rehabilitations. His focus on making patients feel genuinely heard is at the heart of everything we do at Knights Dental.

Heidi Clay — Highly Commended, Dental Nurse of the Year

A huge congratulations also goes to Heidi Clay from our Rhoose practice, who received a Highly Commended recognition in the Dental Nurse of the Year category. It’s a well-deserved acknowledgement of the care and dedication Heidi brings to her patients every single day.

Success Is a Team Sport, and at Knights Dental, We’ve Got the Best Team

Nights like this don’t happen without the people behind them. Every nomination, every award, every commendation is a reflection of the entire Knights Dental family — the clinicians, the nurses, the managers, and the front-of-house teams across all 10 of our South Wales practices.

We are so proud of every single person who represented us at the Welsh Dental Awards. This is just the beginning.
