Personalised cosmetic dental care for Chepstow patients

At Knights Dental in Chepstow, we offer a wide range of cosmetic dental treatments designed to enhance the appearance of your teeth and help you feel more confident in your smile. Whether you’d like to brighten your teeth, correct chips or wear, replace missing teeth or reshape your smile, our Chepstow team will guide you through the options best suited to your needs and lifestyle.

Cosmetic dentistry can include treatments such as veneers, crowns, tooth-coloured fillings, bridges, whitening and implants. Each option serves a different purpose, and your dentist will help you choose the right approach based on what you’d like to improve.

What Happens During Cosmetic Dental Treatment?

Cosmetic dentistry is always tailored to your individual goals. At your first appointment, your dentist will take time to understand what you’d like to change — whether it’s the colour, shape, position or overall look of your teeth. From there, we’ll recommend one or more treatments that can help you achieve the result you’re aiming for.

Depending on your needs, cosmetic treatment may involve reshaping, restoring or replacing teeth. Some treatments can be completed in a single visit, while others — such as veneers, crowns or implants — take place over multiple appointments to ensure the best possible fit and appearance.

What to know before choosing cosmetic treatment

    What are veneers?

Veneers are thin porcelain shells designed to improve the shape, colour or symmetry of a tooth. A small amount of enamel is removed to make space for the veneer, impressions are taken, and the custom veneer is bonded at a later appointment.

Yes. Tooth-coloured fillings are available for both new cavities and replacement of older, darker fillings. They offer a natural, aesthetic result.

Contact our Chepstow practice as soon as possible. We’ll assess the damage and recommend the most suitable treatment, which may include bonding, a crown or veneer depending on the extent of the break.

A crown fits over your original tooth to repair chips and cracks, making it strong and giving it the look and function of a natural tooth once again. Initially, your dentist will prepare your tooth for the crown by shaping it under local anaesthetic and then taking an impression with a rubber-like material. The impression is sent to a lab and your crown is made for you. While waiting, your dentist will protect your tooth with a temporary crown, which is easily removed just before fitting the permanent one, usually two weeks after your first appointment.

Bridges are made by fixing a crown on the teeth either side of the gap left by a lost tooth, so that a false tooth can be held in place in the middle. A bridge can’t be removed at home and is usually made of gold or silver bonded to porcelain. Sometimes other non-precious metals are used in the base to give it extra strength.

Your dentist will assess your teeth, discuss what you’d like to change and recommend the most suitable options. Some patients need only one treatment, while others benefit from a combination for the best result.

Most cosmetic procedures involve little to no discomfort. If any sensitivity is expected, your dentist will explain this beforehand and can use a local anaesthetic to keep you comfortable.

This varies depending on the treatment. Veneers and crowns can last many years with good care, while whitening results depend on lifestyle habits. Your dentist will explain longevity and maintenance for each option.
